Fractions, Fractions, Fractions

At this point in the school year, fractions takes over much of our time in math. We will continue to review multiplication and division as we move into fractions. Fractions can be easy to understand, especially if students know their multiplication facts. Keep studying!Below if a video that will be shown in class to introduce fractions. It gives a nice overview of some of the expectations of this unit. Feel free to review it for yourself!

Farms to Factories

On Thursday, February 19th the PTO brought the program, Farms to Factories, into the fourth grade classrooms. This program, through the Lowell Historical Society, taught the students how towns like Lowell and Nashua went from farming communities to larger cities through the Industrial Revolution and emerging technologies. This fun and hands on program prepared the students for the next unit in Social Studies: New Hampshire! Check out all of the fun we had below:

What is Smarter Balanced?

Smarter Balanced testing is beginning for fourth grade the last week of March and the first week of April. More information will be sent home about the testing. Until then, feel free to view this Prezi which will give you some basic information about what this new state testing is.
